After last night’s Mixed Division 1 match away to Harold Hill, the 2014/2015 season has now come to an end for our teams. It’s not been the best of seasons for us as a club but it’s certainly not been the worst.

A whole host of injuries has played a big part in the outcome of the season and for some teams it has meant struggling to get a team together.

However, big thanks to the team captains for pulling things together and getting the teams through the season.

Let’s take it a division at a time (starting with the ladies first):-

Ladies Pairs Division 1
We have 2 pairs in this division and it’s always a tough division to play in. Our first pair finished only 3 points behind the winners (and current champions). Our second pair finished level on points with the girls from Emerson Eagles. However, with a better points average we stayed in the division to fight another season.

Ladies Pairs Division 2
We have 1 pair in this division and it was always going to be tough to stay in the division against some strong opposition. It proved to be a close run affair between us and Wychelm’s B pair. It went all the way to the last match and we just fell short. Unfortunately this means relegation to division 3 for next season.

Mixed Division 1
Another tough division to compete in and it was much the same as last season. The top 3 teams ran away with it and it was a battle between us and the newly promoted Emerson Eagles team. With a match to spare, we secured our place in the division for next season which was good news for the team after a tough season with a lot of new personnel.

Mixed Division 2
This was always a close division and this year didn’t disappoint. Last season it went to the last match of the season and this season it went to our second last match of the season. After 7Kings withdrew from the league it was down to a 3 team division. Unfortunately for us, we were beaten by Wychelm in the crunch match which meant Wychelm won promotion and we missed out again.

Men’s Division 2
This was a successful year for our men’s team following their record setting season last year in winning division 3. It was going to be tough to secure back to back promotion and it could have happened but there were a few teams conceding matches which meant the results were skewed. The winners were Hunters but we managed a very close second place only 1 point behind Hunters.

Men’s Division 4
In their maiden year in the league, our men’s second team debuted in division 4. With some strong teams also entering, it was going to be a baptism of fire for the guys. With 3 wins and 5 losses, it was a mixed season and only 2 points behind third place. However, with the team getting the experience of this season, I believe they’ll come out strongly next season.

So, not a bad season but not the best season. No trophies for us but lots of promise. With the close season to practice and recover from injuries, let’s hope that the 2015/2016 season proves to be more successful.

For now, it’s a big thanks to the captains (Jess, Gary, David and Darran) for their dedication in getting the teams organised and big thanks to all the players who played for the teams.

Now it’s time for the club to relax, regroup and look forward to the summer. Next up is our annual Mo Chang tournament in June before our AGM 2 weeks later.
