This week our Ladies Pairs C team hosted the division 2 fixture at Bower Park School.  With Jess and Lesley taking up the challenge, it was going to be a tough night for them to beat the current leaders of the table.

The first match between our pair and Emerson Eagles B went all the way to 3 games in a very tight match.  The first game went to the visitors 18-21 but our girls fought back to take the second game 21-16 and move on to the decider.  Unfortunately the visitors were just too strong for our pair and they took it 17-21 to take the point.

The second match was against the top of the table Emerson Eagles A so was going to be even tougher.  It was made worse by the fact that Wychelm didn’t show up so Emerson A only had this match to play while Jess and Lesley were recovering from a gruelling 3 game match earlier.

Our ladies took time getting settled in the first game and it slipped away 9-21 to the fresh legged visitors.  However, they stepped it up in the 2nd game and salvaged a win 21-19 in a close fought battle.  This meant their second decider of the night and last chance to get some league points.  However, it proved too much for Jess and Lesley and they fell just short, losing the decider 18-21.  No doubt the tough first match took it out of them and their opponents had the advantage of only playing the one match.

So unlucky to Jess and Lesley but well played on the night and it was a close run match against the leaders.  The table has been updated on the site if you would like to check it out.
