Last night saw the Men’s 2nd team enter their third match against Wychelm.
With two of our regular players unable to attend, Peter & Paul stepped up as the 3rd pair, Darran partnering up with Andy as the 1st, leaving Kent & Gary as the regular 2nd pair.
The first round saw Andy & Darran take the first game 21-14 comfortably. Wychelm then picked up their game pushing our pair to a 21-20 win for us.
The 2nd pair Gary & Kent started off losing the first game 14-21. Rattled by this, and after getting into their stride, they picked up their game winning the next two games 21-15, 21-18.
Our 3rd pair Peter & Paul started off strong winning the first game 21-13. The second was neck and neck with the game going 21-20 to us – the final point was a great rally with both side pulling out some amazing shots.
First rounds out the way gave our team a 3-0 lead, this gave the team a real confidence boost after the previous 9-0 loss against Frenford.
Now warmed up after a 3 game round, Gary and Kent faced Wychem’s 1st team, winning the 1st game 21-13 and the 2nd going all the way 21-20.
Peter & Paul now faced Wychelm’s 2nd pair and they did themselves proud winning 21-19, 21-19.
Up next, Darran & Andy took on the 3rd pair winning comfortably 21-13, 21-14.
With confidence now at a high Peter & Paul took on the 1st pair with the 1st game going 16-21 to Wychelm. However un-rattled by this, Peter & Paul fought off the pair winning 21-16, 21-20.
All things were looking rosy as Darran & Andy came against the 2nd team. This proved to be a frustrating round and ended up 20-21, 20-21 giving Wychelm their first rubber of the night.
Last round of the evening saw Gary & Kent romp home with a 21-10, 21-9 win.
This gave the final score 8-1 to Corinthians 2.
