With Kirk unfortunately injured, Peter ill and Marc pulling out at the last minute due to sickness, things were getting desperate –  especially when nearly all of the registered reserves could not make it.  We were nearly a no show last night to our own home match!  However, big thanks to Paul for stepping in and also thanks to an injured Ross for agreeing to play which meant that we did not have to forfeit.

Things were going to be tough as it was – Frenford previously beat us 9-0 in the reverse fixture.  Determined not to let it be the case again, 1st pair Kent & Gary rose to the occasion winning their first match in three games to mark our intentions.

However the rest was not to be and things went downhill as Andy & Darran could not quite get to the winning point first after playing two very close three game matches.  Despite Ross & Paul not playing for several weeks (and Ross not being fully mobile), they gave it their all but just couldn’t get the run together to win any of their matches.  The games were a lot closer than the scoreline suggests and on another day the result could have been totally different.

Final score was 8-1 to Frenford – 17 games to 4.  The next match is against 7 Kings who are another strong team and it’s going to be a tough match.  Let’s hope all of the injuries and illnesses clear by the 10th December!
