Friday night saw our mixed team make the trip to Harold Hill for their third away fixture of the season.  Pairings for the night were:-

Penny / Tom
Lisa / Bazile
Paula / Oliver

Despite 3 of the matches going to a decider, it just wasn’t to be for our mixed team in the small hall at Harold Hill.  Penny and Tom went close on a couple of matches, just missing out by between 1 and 3 points, but could only manage to take one match to the decider.

Lisa and Bazile took a while to get into stride and made more progress in their second games of each match but couldn’t quite get the win.

Paula and Oli won their first match in a decider (losing the first game 21-20 but coming back to win.  However, after winning their first game of the second match, things took a turn for the worse in the second game and Oli injured his knee.  They lost the game 21-17 to set up a decider.  Despite soldiering on, the match went downhill losing the decider 21-8.  Sensibly they conceded the final match so as not to risk any damage to Oli’s knee.

Good effort guys but it just wasn’t to be.  The next match is the reverse fixture against Harold Hill on the 17th February – this time at our home venue so things should be a lot different.

Let’s all hope a speedy recovery to Oli and hope it’s nothing serious!
