Last night it was our home fixture in the Ladies Pairs Division 3.  With only 4 teams in the division, it’s been a close one this season with only 1 point difference between the top three teams.

Emerson Eagles contacted us earlier in the week to say they could only send one pair which meant Emerson Eagles D wouldn’t make it.  Emerson Eagles C showed up on the night though.  League leaders Redbridge, however, we a no-show.  No phone call or email in advance which spoiled the night.

It was our club night anyway so it didn’t affect us but it was hard on Emerson Eagles who travelled on a non-club night to play in the match only to have the prospect of playing in a single match.

Lisa and Penny were our pair and they quickly dispatched Emerson C 21-17 then 21-15 to take the match.  The rest of the result is for discussion by the league committee.  As Emerson D notified us in advance, it is likely the games are conceded.  However, the complication is Redbridge who didn’t show up.  Whether they are penalised or not is a matter for the league.  For now, I haven’t updated the tables until we know what’s going to happen.

However, I can say that we are in a good position going into the last match of the season.  With one match left we are joint top (given we won a league point with the win last night) on 4 points and this could change again depending on the decision of the league committee.

Well done ladies – let’s hope for some good news and let’s get promotion to Division 2.  Next fixture is away to Emerson Eagles D on the 20th April so there is plenty of time to practice!
