Last night our Men’s 1st team played in their first match of the season away to Barking 3. It was always going to be a tough match as Barking are a strong club and we are fielding new pairs this season.
The pairs for the night were:-
David / Leon
Chris / Tom
Jonas / Kiran
There were some amazingly close games and some really close rubbers but unfortunately we lost 5-4 on the night. We did pick up the bonus league point so overall it was a good night for us given it was our first match of the season and it was away. To show how close it was, 9 of the games finished 21-18 or closer!
Well done to Chris and Tom who won all three of their rubbers and desperately unlucky to Jonas and Kiran who, despite losing their first rubber 21-7, 21-18, came back and narrowly missed the win – losing 21-7, 20-21, 19-21 in one rubber and 18-21, 19-21 in the other. A couple of points and the result could have been totally different.
A great effort lads and things are looking good for the rest of the season as the pairs will get stronger the more games they play together. Next up is Redbridge away in a couple of weeks which will be another tough test!
