While the ladies were playing at home, the men were away at Redbridge in their 4th game in Division 2.  With the league title still in their hands, the pressure was on to keep the winning streak going.

The line-up for Corinthians was:-
Alan / Kenny
Andy / Tom
Gary / Kevin

First on court were Alan and Kenny against Redbridge’s first pair.  Things got off to a great start with our guys taking the first game 21-16.  However, Redbridge fought back in the second game and with the scores tied at 20-20, it was pressure time.  Our lads kept a cool head and took the point to take the win and put the first point up on the board.

Meanwhile, on the other court, it was Andy and Tom against the second pair from Redbridge.  This turned out to be an uncomfortable start to the night for our guys with them losing 21-13, 21-12 to make it 1-1 on the night.

Next it was the turn of Gary and Kevin to take on the third pair from Redbridge.  The lads took a bit of time to get warmed up losing the first game 21-17.  However, they turned it round in the second game to take it 21-17 then settled the third game 21-15 to make it 2-1.

Back on the other court, Alan and Kenny took on Redbridge’s second pair.  Things in this game went the way of the opposition with Alan and Kenny losing 21-18, 21-15 to level the scores at 2-2 on the night.

Next up it was Andy and Tom against their third pair.  This was another game which didn’t go our way with the opposition too much for us and they took it in straight games 21-15, 21-12 to make it 3-2 on the night.

The guys knew they needed to change things around if they were to get the win.  It was down to Gary and Kevin in their next match against Redbridge’s first pair.  The lads didn’t disappoint and took the first game 21-15 to start to turn the tables.  The next game was a bit closer but they guys held out and won it 21-18 to claw things back to 3-3 on the night with 3 matches left.

On the other court, Alan and Kenny took on Redbridge’s third pair in their final match of the night.  The first game was a comfortable win for the lads winning 21-11.  However, things slipped in the second game to a loss of 21-16.  With a decider on the cards, our guys stepped up and won convincingly 21-16 to take the night to 4-3 and secure a league point.

Next up to try and secure the win it was Andy and Tom against the first pair from Redbridge.  Our guys, reeling from two defeats, were determined to make amends and upped their game to a whole new level.  They took the first game by a huge margin, winning 21-10 then pushed on and won the second game 21-15 to take the match and to secure the win for the team.

Last up it was Gary and Kevin against the unbeaten second pair from Redbridge.  A win would secure the bonus league point so there was a lot at stake.  However, despite winning their previous two matches, Gary and Kevin couldn’t find a way past the opposition, eventually losing 21-15, 21-18.

So it was a 5-4 win to our guys meaning that the league is still in our hands.  Well done guys!
