Last night saw our Ladies Pairs from Division 1 play their away game at Harold Hill who are currently top of the league.  The first game up for our ‘A’ pairing were against Wychelm who are currently languishing at the bottom of the table with no points.  Our ladies played to their strengths and proved to be too strong for the Wychelm pairing.  With the final scores 21-15, 21-14 it secured the first match point for our pair.

Our ‘B’ pairing kicked the night off with a match against top of the table Harold Hill.  It was always going to be a tough one against the pair who have not lost a match this season and have only dropped 2 games in 10 matches.  Unfortunately for our ladies, Harold Hill were too good and we lost 15-21, 10-21.

The second match for our ‘A’ pairing was against Harold Hill who’d just beaten our ‘B’ pairing.  Hoping for a stronger showing, our ladies came up just short in the first game but fell well short in the second game, losing 18-21, 12-21.

The second match for our ‘B’ pairing was against 3rd place Hunters.  With the first match going to Hunters by only 4 points, our ladies stepped up their game and won the second game convincingly by 6 points to take it to a decider.  It seems at this stage Hunters upped their game and won the third game by 9 points with the final scores 17-21, 21-15, 12-21.

Well done to the ‘A’ pairing for another league point which was vital as Hunters won 2 league points tonight to bring them to within a point of second place.  Our ‘B’ pairing are still in 4th place, 2 points clear of Wychelm at the bottom.  We’re now halfway through the season and there is a small break until the next match which is in the New Year.  The league table has been updated to reflect the results from last night.
