With the exception of a few matches between other clubs, the season is all but finished in terms of league standings.  The league’s website (www.bhdbl.org) has all of the tables up to date if you want to check them.  In terms of our teams, we had mixed fortunes:-

Ladies Pair 1

Our first pairing in Ladies Pairs Division 1 finished runners up behind Harold Hill who ran away with the title this season.

Ladies Pair 2

Our second pairing in Ladies Pairs Division 1 finished fourth, only 2 points behind third placed Hunters.  This was despite having to concede a match due to not being able to field a team.

Ladies Pair 3

Our third pairing who play in Ladies Pairs Division 2 managed a respectable third place finish, only 2 points behind second place and a comfortable 6 points ahead of fourth place.

Mixed 1 Team

It was a close shave for our Mixed Division 1 Team as they narrowly avoided relegation.  They finished level on points at the bottom with Redbridge but stayed up due to a superior games won record.

Mixed 2 Team

This really did go down to the wire with the winners of Emerson vs Corinthians in the last match of the season taking the title and promotion.  Unfortunately for us, Emerson won so finished top.  Unlike the Mixed 1 team, our games won record was not very good so we actually finished bottom – level on points with United Shuttlers.

Men’s Team

Our success story for the season (and I save the best for last).  The men managed to not only win the league but also go unbeaten and finish on maximum points.  The only team in all divisions to do so this season.  They only dropped 7 games all season which is less than 1 per match on average.  An amazing achievement.  However, next season is not going to be so easy with the men going to be competing in Division 2 against Ramgarhia (2 teams), Redbridge and Hunters (2 teams).

So not a bad season for our teams at all with one trophy coming our way.

In other news, the website is going to be having a bit of a makeover for the new season.  New league table formats, match reports, etc., will be possible along with news and blog entries being easier to find.  I’ll be working on this over the coming weeks so if the site is down for “scheduled maintenance”, you’ll know why 🙂

The committee are due to meet on Friday 16th May to discuss various things about the season, the club and the future.  Following the meeting, the AGM will be sometime in June/July (date to be confirmed).  Once we confirm a date, it will be posted on the website, Facebook, Twitter and at the club on the notice board.  The agenda for the AGM will then be sent out in advance to all members as well as posted on our Facebook group page.

In the meantime, I would like to thank all of the team captains for their hard work this season and hope that we can build on it for next season and bring home some more trophies!
